One thing I couldnt help but notice during the month long fashion week marathon was that the undisputed shoe choice of the season was Miu Mius glitter booties. Editors, stylists, show attendees no one seemed to be able to escape the allure of the sparkly shoe. Ask most girls and we will tell you that we never really outgrow our childhood love of all things sparkled, spangled and glittered, so it makes sense that this girlish fantasy manifested into shoe form would make even the most matured of fashion hearts swoon.

When you think of business casual and khaki pants, its almost certain that Gap is the first brand that comes to mind. This all-American retailer, which runs, Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic, has been struggling for a while now and has announced that it will close down nearly 200 stores in North America. On the flip side, they will be compensating by opening twice as many new stores in Asia. [The Washington Post]

There were no shrinking violets on the Emmy Awards red carpet Sunday night, with stars wearing bold red – from Lea Michele’s dress to Christina Hendricks’ lips – as well as strapless necklines and more than a little bit of glitter.

Michele’s sophisticated Marchesa dress gave her the look of a seasoned star instead of starlet. She wore a plain-front, low draped back with rosette sleeves that really let her work the crowd. She gave fans lined outside the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles a big wink.

There was some high fashion, too, including Julianna Margulies in a strapless Giorgio Armani Prive gown, with a stiff crescent-shaped bustier and embellished with clear oval stones and shimmery paillettes.

Saturday Night Live is back after television’s summer hiatus — and with the return of the show comes the inevitable return of host Alec Baldwin. Who was great!

Baldwin’s Saturday night hosting gig marked a new record in SNL history: the 30 Rock star has now hosted more than any other celeb.

Twice a year Las Vegas explodes with the latest in clothing, accessories, shoes and more for the market tradeshow Magic. BurdaStyle was invited to set up a DIY crafting station on the floor at WWDMagic, the area of the show for contemporary lines for women and teens. We partnered up with Alicia DiRago, the lady behind Dismount Creative, who whipped up 3 awesome projects. We had so much fun at this event and met so many great people in fashion and retail, not to mention the fact that we got to scope out all the trends for spring 2012.

Theres a lot of power in the fashion industry (no big suprise here). Forbes Worlds 100 Most Powerful Women List has been released and some of fashions top names, including Brazilian supermodel Gisele, Ana Wintour and Diane von Furstenberg, made the cut. [Fashion Etc.]

The Costume Institute had great success with the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit this year, which, in manys eyes, would seem hard to top.
