As you all know, we are in the countdown phases to the magazine, hence the slight neglect of dream palette inspirations. Thank you all so much for your patience, and I promise to get to each request on the queue.
So in the spirit of taking on the back log of, we begin with a request from a few months ago. Her inspiration? Yellow, Gray & Eggplant.
I am currently planning my wedding happening in November and I am at a point where I am stuck especially regarding color coordination. I have no idea how to put together my colors.
The email was from bride-to-be, Abiade, whos upcoming wedding to her Carribean beau, sounds like itll be quite the fusion event.
Abiade: I am Nigerian, my fiancee is from the carribean and we are planning a modern/contemporary wedding. Everything we have done so far is around a contemporary theme. In terms of fashion, I am more into dull yet expensive looking colors; I dont like brights. I love unique uncommon things that not everybody is wearing or doing. My husband to be is pretty much about clean modern looks. We have narrowed down our ideal wedding colors to Mustard yellow and grey and maybe add eggplant somewhere. The question now is : what is the best way to incorporate these colors in a contemporary way that does not look tacky and overdone?
DREAM PALETTE #138: MODERN CITRUS & EGGPLANT

For a fall wedding, the colors can be a bit muted (mustard instead of bright canary yellow, plum and egglplant instead of royal purple). In regards to bringing it all together with some traditional ideas, the couple could chose to have a Kola Nut ceremony or traditional desserts that adopt these colors. Accent pillows with a little ethnic distinction would be a subtle balance to the modern look as well, among other ideas. You can see more yellow, gray palettes for inspiration.
Congrats again, Abiade. Hope this palette sends you off on a confident path to your November nuptials.
