real wedding: tymoshenko and ivanov

Let’s kick off the week with a beautiful couple, a chic handmade wedding gown, and a fabulous photographer, Zoë Lonergan. Tymoshenko and Ivanov were married at the Holy Virgin Cathedral in San Francisco and had an intimate reception at a private residence in the Mission. The bride’s gown was designed and made by the groom’s mother, Mila Hosford. Don’t you love the groom’s dapper lavender shirt and delicate bow tie?

The bride and groom had a traditional Russian wedding ceremony during which the priest blesses them and gives them lighted candles which they will hold throughout the ceremony. In the Eastern Orthodox Church, the sign of the marriage is not the exchange of rings but rather the placing of crowns on the heads of the bride and groom. For this reason the ceremony of the wedding is referred to as the Crowning. It used to be the custom that the bride and groom would wear their wedding crowns for eight days, but now the removal of the crowns is customarily done at the end of the service.

After the ceremony, the couple headed outdoors to run and play and enjoy their first few moments of marriage!

Many happy wishes to the beautiful couple, Tymoshenko and Ivanov! Thank you to San Francisco-based photographer Zoë Lonergan for sharing such a stylish wedding with us.
